Bring your bike on the train from Watford / Dacorum stations to Milton Keynes for a virtually traffic free route around the tracks and red routes that criscross the city. This is a day ride with lunch at Camp Hill cafe, so plan to be out most of the day. Slow/Medium pace. This is a Spokes Members only ride.

Chiltern Heritage Trail – Harding route. Loop via Chesham, Cholsbury, Flaunden and Chenies. Some challenging hills, 1550 feet of climbing. Refreshment stop at Velo Cafe. Start time to suit Met Line train to Amersham.

Ride south then east along the Grand Union Canal towpath, turn north east along the Paddington Arm to the Yummy PL (Polish Cafe) for lunch. Then roads – some quite busy, others residential – to a circuit around Wembley Stadium, and quiet roads back to Rickmansworth. Pace will be slow – perhaps 9 or 10 mph, because the towpath can be gravely, low hanging branches, pedestrians, dog walkers and narrow sections. Now avoids Sudbury Hill and the hill to Mount Vernon. 

Any bike, though skinny tyres might struggle

Cycle on lanes & tracks though Bedmond & Verulamium. Return via Chiswell Green on NCR6. Refreshments stops at St.Albans and/or Chiswell Green.

Destination Spokes, Café, Codicote. Out via Bricket Wood, St, Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City. Return via Wheathamsted, Harpenden, St Albans and Bricket Wood. 1932 ft of climbing, some challenging.
