Netherlands Cycling Holiday 2026
One week cycling holiday in 3 locations in Netherlands 3rd to 10th July 2026
Join us for this touring holiday with easy rides, good way for Members who have never toured to try cycle touring. Brilliant Netherlands cycle infrastructure and culture. Time to enjoy the attractions of Leiden, Amsterdam, Gouda and Delft
Medium paced trip where rides will average 9-11mph. Good surfaces throughout, mainly on Cycle Paths. Distinct lack of hills!
Cost
Final costs are dependent upon exchange rate and numbers booking due to shared rooms etc. Any contingency that is unused will be returned after the trip
Approximate cost £730 per person (including 10% contingency). Costs are based on two people sharing a ferry cabin and hotel rooms, continental breakfast included in hotels. If the gender mix requires any guest/s to have a single cabin/room then the additional cost will be shared between all guests. Any guest who requests a single cabin/room will be charged the additional cost, approximately £470 for ferry and all hotels
This is a Spokes Members only trip, first come first served for places and priority will be given to Members who joined before 1 December 2025. Any vacancies after 2 January 2026 will be offered on a first come first served basis, to Members who joined after 30 November 2025. There may be a waiting list in case of cancellation

- Stena Line Ferry. Overnight ferry to and from Harwich International Port on Parkeston Quay, Harwich, Essex, CO12 4SR
- Inside cabin with 2 bunk beds
- Intercity Hotel, Ballonstraat 6, Leiden
- Secure bicycle parking in nearby indoor public bike park
- The Tire Station Hotel, Amstelveenseweg 1, 1054 LK Amsterdam
- Secure bicycle parking in a car space in their underground garage
- Hotel Campanile, Kampenringweg 39-41, Goudse Poort – 2803 PE, Gouda
- Bicycle parking in Hotel shed
- Same sex twin bedded rooms
- Double rooms for couples in hotels subject to availability
Payment
- Booking closes 9th January
- When your place is confirmed by email you will be asked to transfer £400 deposit
- If this is not paid by 16th January you may lose your place
- Remainder of payment required by 23rd May 2026
- If you later cancel your place, the deposit may only be refunded if someone is able to take your place
Itinerary

- Friday 3rd July: Meet at Harwich Ferry Terminal by 20:30, sail 23:00
- Saturday: Land at Hook of Holland at 8:00 local time (clocks go forward one hour)
- Cycle to Leiden along coastal route (26 miles), mainly cycle paths
- Breakfast at beach cafe on route. Rest of day explore Leiden
- Sunday: Some free time in Leiden before cycling to Amsterdam (36 miles coastal and 27 miles direct options)
- Monday and Tuesday: Free time in Amsterdam
- Wednesday: Cycle to Gouda (33 miles)
- Thursday: Morning free time in Gouda. Perhaps visit cheese market (2 miles)
- Return to hotel to collect luggage from hotel
- Cycle to Delft (19 miles)
- Some free time in Delft before cycling to Hook of Holland (12 miles)
- Optional Group Dinner at Hook of Holland
- Provisionally booked Torpedoloods, Stationsweg 43, 3151 HR Hoek van Holland
- 19:30 book on to Ferry, sail at 22:00
- Friday 10th: Land Harwich 06:30 (clocks go back one hour) and make your own way home
Note that you will need to carry your luggage, for 4 rides 26 to 33-miles each, between the ferry and hotels. Therefore, panniers are recommended. Don’t forget bike lock, repair kit and pump
If you are using an electric motor assisted bicycle and cannot remove the battery for charging, the Hotels may not be able accommodate that. Indicate that on the booking form and we will try and resolve the difficulty
Travel insurance
- Travel insurance is strongly recommended and is the responsibility of each person
Travel documents
Each person is responsible for meeting requirements in place at date of travel
Netherlands entry requirements from the UK as of October 2025 are summarised below but can be seen in full at UK Government travel advice
- Passport valid for at least 3 months from the date of departure from Netherlands and issued less than 10 years before the date of entry to Netherlands
- Visa is NOT required
- During the last quarter of 2026 an ETIAS visa waiver will become a requirement but that does not affect our trip
- Covid vaccination etc. evidence NOT required
- Those not already registered for entry into the EU will have to register via a photographing and fingerprinting process, probably at Harwich but may be when entering Netherlands
- It is required to carry passports as identification throughout the stay in Netherlands
